Astronomy

teaches us about our

origins

and our possible

destiny,

how to think

critically,

and how to

appreciate

our planet. And that's just

the start.

Help us to spread the message.

While our are a for profit endeavor, many of our activities are intended for the immediate benefit of local community. lookup meetups are our way of sharing our appreciation for astronomy with people who may have not previously had the chance to observe space's wonders up close.

We attempt to locate meetups in places where we are most likely to engage with either those who are least likely to have experienced hands-on astronomy, or with those who are best positioned to influence positive change in science education policy, in private and corporate sponsorship of science education, and in government policy toward scientific endeavor. We hope that our local community will respond in kind. We need your help to spread appreciation of the sciences, especially space sciences.

lookup's save a star project is another not-for-profit initiative of the company. save a star is leveraging social networking and innovative technological approaches to influence business, government, and citizenry to recognize and reduce the levels of wasted light energy emanating upward from New York City. Despite lofty aims, the project is founded on realistic, achievable goals and a balanced view to costs, public safety, and pragmatic limits on what can be achieved.

Help us to improve the views.

We are seeking to obtain additional, cost-effective, Dobsonian telescopes and matching eyepieces to share with the public. Volunteers await this equipment to serve communities throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Your donation will go directly, and with no administrative or similar overhead costs, to the procurement of additional telescopic equipment that will be shared with the public for educational purposes on a regular and continued basis. We also seek volunteer professional and amateur astronomers to transport and staff these telescopes.

A single telescope can open the universe to thousands. However, few have had the opportunity to observe celestial objects through a high quality tool. You can help to create this simple, yet unforgettable experience for others. Subsequent to your contribution, you will be informed by email when the purchase of the equipment you helped to fund has been successfully completed. Thank you for your contribution. All donations are made via PayPal. Donations are not presently tax-deductible.
